SCA Band Students Receive Top Honors

On Saturday, January 12, St. Catherine of Siena Academy students participated in the District Solo and Ensemble Festival held at Livonia Franklin High School.  The Festival is sponsored by the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association and included students from several counties. St. Catherine of Siena Academy students earned top honors with a Third Division Rating in piano solo (Bridget Dewan), several Second Division Ratings, including two flute solos (Kerry Prowse and Johanna Hopkins), one flute quartet (Kerry Prowse, Johanna Hopkins, Gwen Burke, and Allie Bopp), and a flute/clarinet duo (Kerry Prowse and Pamela Schmeider). The top honors went to Haley Harris and Mary Peters for their First Division Rating in piano solo. Haley and Mary will participate in the State Festival in March.

These distinctions mark St. Catherine's success in it's first year of offering a band program under the guidance of Mr. Greg Normandin. Congratulations to all our student musicians!
