Honoring Mary in May
May Crowning
May is a month dedicated to Mary, the Mother of God. This tradition dates back centuries and reminds us to reflect on Mary’s virtues—her humility, faith, purity, and love—and how we can live them out in our daily lives.

At St. Catherine of Siena Academy, we honored Mary during our annual May Crowning on May 1. This beautiful tradition included a school-wide flower procession and a special moment when freshman Samantha Wolocko crowned Mary with a floral wreath as her sister, senior Lily Wolocko, sang Ave Maria.

Each year, students are selected by their classmates to be part of Mary’s Court—a group of young women recognized for living out Mary’s example. We’re proud to celebrate these students and the way they reflect Mary’s presence in our school.

As we celebrate Mother’s Day, we remember Mary, our heavenly mother, and give thanks for the gift of all mothers in our lives.
Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
